Hello.
e.e. cummings said: “It takes courage to grow up to be who you really are.”
Ms. Carolan says: "I want to support my students in this quest. That is why I teach."
This is my second year as a full time teacher at Kealing. I could not be more honored to be teaching here at Kealing with an amazing group of colleagues by my side and an incredible group of students who inspire me.
A few facts about me:
I was born in Washington, D.C., which is not a state.
I once played a nun onstage AND punk rock Antigone.
I hold degrees in Theatre and English from the University of Maryland. (Maryland could fit into TX 21.6 times)
I love to read, read aloud, talk aloud, sing aloud, and sing loud(ly).
I have lived in Austin for 22 years.
I have 3 daughters, Sinéad, Bridget and Fiona, who all went to Kealing.
I am passionate about traveling! I love big cities, museums, travel and exploring other cultures. I most especially love to take my family on crazy road trips across this continent.
I love to read essays, good journalism, great novels, and have a rather sizable collection of children’s books at my house. I love Pippi Longstocking, Matilda, The Cherry Orchard , Richard III, and The Book of Laughter and Forgetting.
My best friend is National Public Radio. Political discourse is my favorite cousin. Movies are my whacky relatives.
Most Importantly: I love to work with students and firmly believe in asking questions. Please always feel free to ask for help with my class, study skills, organization, recipes, or just about anything. Come to office hours, especially if you want to hang out in the best classroom at Kealing. You are welcome to bring me snacks anytime.
